Edwin Gilcher’s A Bibliography of George Moore (Dekalb: Northern Illinois University Press, 1970) came out shortly before we became friends. He lived on Folly Farm, the name of his home near Albany, New York. I was a student at New York University, hovering over George Moore like a bee eying a flower. Edwin was a self-taught and self-directed bibliographer whose scholarship and passion endured throughout his long life. He generously encouraged my project with the letters. I joyfully contributed to A Supplement to A Bibliography of George Moore (Westport: Meckler, 1988). His papers are now preserved at the Arizona State University Library. They probably contain many unpublished fruits of his labor.
Welcome to the interactive Bibliography of George Moore by Edwin Gilcher, edited by Robert Becker. The organization and content of Edwin’s printed books is preserved here, but unified. The original format of his entries has been slightly enhanced for readability and usability.
This digital Bibliography of George Moore comprises all of Edwin’s published data. Volunteers are needed to augment his data with publications of George Moore since the mid-1980s. Please use the Volunteer page to step up.
