In keeping with George Moore’s love of eighteenth century book designs, this anonymous drawing of Romanesque colonnades, arches and statues appeared first on the title page of In Single Strictness (London: Heinemann, 1922). It looks like an engraving by Giovanni Battista Piranesi,
The drawing was used as a logo on the title pages of several other books by George Moore, including all of the volumes in his Uniform and Ebury editions (also published by Heinemann).
