Tullira Castle was the home of George Moore’s friend and collaborator Edward Martyn (1859-1923). The estate is approximately five miles from Coole Park, the home of Lady Gregory and ground zero for the Irish literary revival that Moore and Martyn joined in the 1890s. Moore’s memoirs include arch descriptions of visits to Tullira, which he deemed a symbol of his friend’s complex personality.
There are variant spellings of Tullira (including Moore’s Tullyra); I have used the spelling on Wikipedia.
