George Moore wrote from the Standard Hotel, Dublin, in June 1895. The hotel was involved in the Bloody Sunday events 25 years later, around the time that Moore Hall was burned by terrorists.

In 1907 Honor Woulfe traveled from her home in Waco, Texas to visit George Moore in Dublin. In a memoir she recalled staying at the Standard Hotel and walking over to his home at 4 Upper Ely Place.
