In 1880, George Moore engaged Thomas Ruttledge (1855-1925) of Cornfield, County Mayo, as his property manager of Moore Hall following the retirement of George’s maternal uncle Joseph Blake of Ballinafad.

They remained dear friends as well as business associates until Thomas died.
