Self-Portrait (1907)

Signed lower right: Orpen. Half-length, turned to his right, holding a palette in his right hand and a brush in his left hand, staring intently at his sitter. Depicting the artist at work the way George Moore, as a sitter, would have observed him.
Orpen pictured Moore at least 20 times; see the portraits elsewhere in this Iconography. Moore commissioned and owned the first, painted in his home in Dublin four years before this self-portrait; it hung in his homes until he died.
Owned by the National Gallery of Australia, Mildura Arts Centre Collection.
