What is Nevill Holt?

George Moore wrote from Nevill Holt Hall in 1910. It was the home of Sir Bache Cunard, improvident 3rd Baronet (1851–1925), husband of Lady Cunard (Maud Alice Burke) and purported father of Nancy Cunard.

The Cunards separated in 1911 and Lady Cunard established her new home in Grosvenor Square, London. In 1912 Sir Bache lost Nevill Holt to foreclosure.
