Who is Angelena Frances Milman?

Undated photograph of Lena Milman, colorized (see George Moore Association)

In the early 1890s Angelena Frances Milman (1863-1914) was introduced to George Moore by their mutual friend William Nevill Montgomerie Geary, who later told Joseph Hone that Lena, as she was called, was one of two “serious love affairs” of George’s life (the other was Pearl Richards Craigie). George’s letters to Lena were published in 1968.

Lena Milman bequeathed her papers and books to the British Library and the Community of the Resurrection, and perhaps others. So far I have been unable to find them. Her picture above, the only one I’m aware of, appears without attribution in the linked source.

A Milman/Moore collaboration published in June 1894.
