Captioned “I’ve had — THOUSANDS — of women!!” Inscribed In memory of G.M. Signed ASH. George Moore half-length turned slightly to his left. The number 33 is stamped in the upper right corner of the picture.

D.S. MacColl, in a holographic memoir of Moore preserved at the University of Glasgow, related the following anecdote: “Charles, who divided public men very largely simply and opprobriously into two classes, held forth on one of them, the perverts, describing their physical characteristics: sloping shoulders, wide hips, arms and hands held in a particular way. Moore, who had been brooding in one comer of a big sofa in front of the fire, displayed himself, and protested ‘I have sloping shoulders and wide hips, but I have had hundreds of women.’“
