Who is Henry Harris Brown?

From the Old Rectory

Circa 1932, aet. 80

25 x 30 in; 63.5 x 76.2 cm

Oil on canvas

George Moore half-lengthlooking to his left.

I believe this portrait may be contemporary with On His Eightieth Birthday by Francis Dodd.

The picture was painted from life and presented in a gilt frame by the artist’s widow to Sir Rupert Hart-Davis, who kept it in his home The Old Rectory in North Yorkshire, England. Rupert gave the painting to me in the late 1970s. Owned by Robert S. Becker, Oak Park, Illinois, USA.
