An undated carte de visite of Harry Colvill Bridger (1828-1910) in my collection. He was identified in the handwritten caption of an antique album of the Orme family, transcribed on the verso of the carte above right.

This gentleman, the model for James Brookes in Spring Days (1888), was the father of George Moore’s dear friends Harry Colvill Bridger (1850-1929), Florence Louisa Bridger (1856-1935), and Dulcibella Mary Bridger (1859-1934).
