What is 7 Portland Place, London?

Recent photograph of 7 Portland Place, London (see O’Shea). This building was erected sometime after the original was destroyed by bombs in 1940.

George Moore wrote from 7 Portland Place in 1928. At that time it was the Alfred House Nursing Home, founded by the Countess of Carnavon a year earlier. It “specialized in diseases of the rich and famous.”
