George Moore wrote from 33 Pont Street, London, in 1911, the year he closed his Dublin home and moved permanently to 121 Ebury Street, London.
His host here was the author and man of the world Henry Finnis Blosse Lynch (1862-1913), MP for Ripon, Yorkshire until a year earlier. Lynch’s eminent Irish family were from Partry House near Ballinrobe, County Mayo; he and George were probably boyhood friends.

I wish to gratefully acknowledge the help I received from Ms. Else Churchill of the Society of Genealogists in identifying this place in George Moore’s life story; and recommend the Society to everyone seeking to kickstart literary legacies.
