Aet. 47, to an American novelist living in England. The character Hugh Egerton in her novel The Confounding of Camelia (spring 1899) may have been modeled on George Moore or his fictional alter ego Edwin Harding.
Anne’s posthumous book Portrait in Letters (1936) edited by her widower contains her letter to George defending her unnamed book, which appears to be A Fountain Sealed (1897), against his criticism.
That published letter was misdated Sunday 30 May 1898 (a Monday). It seems unrelated to this later letter from George to her.
