Menu of Letters 1899

Aet. 46, to a woman of letters. The dining room ceiling collapsed as a result of workmen trying to lay a parquet floor in the flat above (Salve, Chapter 1) . The building had recently been acquired by the Westminster Trust and was being renovated. Construction served as a pretext, according to Salve, for George Moore to break his lease and move to Ireland.

A German translation of Evelyn Innes was proposed by a woman named Anna Gerstmann. She is mentioned in a few other letters. Her proposal was accepted but her translation was not published.
