Aet. 47, to a German man of letters. Anna Gerstmann was a German translator of Evelyn Innes (unpublished). She presumably sent a copy of the revised trial edition of Evelyn Innes (October 1898) to Heilborn. His review of the first (June) or second (August) edition appeared in Die Nation (13 August 1898).
George Moore misread Novalis as Morales in Heilborn’s letter. He then misremembered Maeterlinck’s mention of Novalis as Morales in Le Trésor des humbles (1896).
The conclusion of Evelyn Innes in Chapter 41 of Sister Teresa (1901) was different from the options considered in this letter.
