The discussion of a five-act play refers to work-in-progress; the final draft was three acts.

The play was produced for the Irish Literary Theatre at Dublin’s Gaiety Theatre on 20 February 1900; publication as a book by T. Fisher Unwin in London followed on 21 February 1900.
