1901-01-09b to Thomas Fisher Unwin

←Menu of Letters 1901

Aet. 48, to the London publisher of Evelyn Innes, third edition, in July 1901.

On 7 January 1901, George Moore asked Unwin to start printing the book immediately after receiving the manuscript, evidently intending to revise the text on galley proofs. Printers billed publishers for major changes on proofs (e.g. more than correcting typos); publishers often passed these costs on to authors.

“Moods and Memories” was to be published by William Heinemann as Memoirs of My Dead Life in 1906. George’s “volume in one of the Irish papers” may be a reference to The Untilled Field, published by Unwin in 1903. A “volume of essays” is unidentified.
