Aet. 48, to his brother, an officer currently serving in the Second Boer War.

The North American Review (April 1900) included George Moore’s article Some Characteristics of English Fiction, articles on the Boer War by Frederick Maddison, MP, and General Count du Barail, and “War” by Émile Zola who prophesied the First World War.

Three years have passed since George joined Edward Martyn and W. B. Yeats in forming the Irish Literary Theatre. George’s speech for the Irish Literary Theatre was delivered at the Gresham Hotel in Dublin on 22 February 1900.
