Aet. 48, to a man of letters. After writing for about three years, George Moore’s first edition of Evelyn Innes was published in June 1898. He continued working on the novel, coming out with the second edition in August 1898 and a trial revised edition in October 1898. Still unsatisfied, he didn’t pivot to Evelyn’s story in Sister Teresa until March 1900.
It was now almost two years since the initial publication of Evelyn Innes. More than a year was still to pass before the first edition of Sister Teresa and third edition of Evelyn Innes appeared together (in separate bindings).
About six years lapsed from start to finish of work on his duology.
