Aet. 48, to the London publisher of George Moore’s duology Evelyn Innes and Sister Teresa. George’s objections to Appleton sprang from their expurgation of the American edition of Evelyn Innes; he may also have been disappointed in Unwin as his “agent” for not preventing it.
Sister Teresa was published in America by Lippincott, but George reverted to Appleton in 1906 and remained with them until 1914.
