In 1898 George Moore wrote from this address, the home of artist Jacques-Emile Blanche. Jacques was the son of the late Antoine-Émile Blanche, an eminent psychiatrist whose clinic the Maison Blanche is shown here. I assume the home adjoined the clinic but have not verified that.
In “La Butte” (Memoirs of My Dead Life) George described a journey from his downtown hotel to the rue de Docteur Blanche, in which Paul Alexis purportedly lived.
