Aet. 46, to an American art, literature and music critic for the New York Tribune. A copy of the trial revised edition of Evelyn Innes inscribed to Cortissoz was noted in American Book-Prices Current (1923, page 580).

The known or likely twelve recipients of the trial revised edition were William Archer, Royal Cortissoz, Édouard Dujardin, Edmund Gosse, Lady Gregory, Edward Martyn, H.W. Massingham, George Meredith, Lena Milman, T. Fisher Unwin, Charles Whibley, and W.B. Yeats.

A conspicuous omission from this roster is Arthur Symons, to whom (with Yeats) the novel was dedicated. Symons was a close advisor and planned to publish Evelyn Innes serially in his magazine, the Savoy, before it collapsed.
