Aet. 46, to a society portrait painter (1864-1936). He was the eldest son of Russian prince Pyotr Petrovich Troubetzkoy and American singer Ada Winans. Married in 1896 to the American novelist Amélie Rives, it seems he was living in the United States in 1898 when he wrote to George Moore, though other references place him (uncertainly) in France.
The ambiguous wording of this letter suggests that Pierre Trubetskoy may have completed a portrait of George: “I shall be very glad to receive photographs of your portrait — it will convey some faint idea of the original.” Other clues indicate that George modeled for Pierre’s brother, the sculptor Paul Trubetskoy.
