Menu of Letters 1898

Aet. 46, to the chief editor for publisher T. Fisher Unwin. He founded his own imprint in 1904 and was George Moore’s publisher from 1916 until 1921. Mr. Tom Brown, a member of Laurie’s staff for several years, described him for me as “most meticulous in everything he did and a martinet,” but also a gentleman of extraordinary consideration and generosity. Miss Christina Foyle likewise related details of Laurie’s fun loving disposition, comparing him to publisher Grant Richards.
