George Moore’s 1,100-word scenario was excerpted from a draft of Chapter 23 of Evelyn Innes. References to Diarmuid (Dermont) and Grania were excised from the final draft of the novel.
Ulick is a character in Evelyn Innes based on W.B. Yeats, who was to collaborate with George on a play Diarmuid and Grania, completed and staged in 1901 and published 50 years later.
