1897-11-08 to Édouard Dujardin

Menu of Letters 1897

Aet. 45, to a French man of letters whose book about Parsifal may have been Parsifal de Richard Wagner: essai de commentaire symbolique, by Édouard Schuré, (Paris: Perrin, 1892). George Moore’s book by d’Annunzio was a French translation of Il trionfo della morte (1894).

Dujardin’s much discussed but never completed autobiographical project was called Les Mémoires du Dieu. Since 1893, he had been married to Maria Grabowska (1864–1932), a Polish-born pianist and music teacher. They separated in 1901 and later divorced.
