Aet. 44, to an American novelist. George Moore’s stationery is watermarked 1896, a clue for dating the letter. Virginia of Virginia: A Story (1888) was an early work. Amélie’s second husband Prince Pierre Troubetzkoy (married 18 February 1896) was a portrait painter whose studio was in Washington D.C. This letter seems to welcome his visit to draw George; whereabouts of the picture (if any) unknown.
