Aet. 44, to Alice Sophia Caroline (1862-1936), wife of Charles Belby Stuart Wortley (1851- 1926) and daughter of the painter John Everett Millais.
Decades earlier when the Millais family lived in Cromwell Road they were neighbors of the Moores in Alfred Place.
George Moore wrote about her in Chapter 7 of Hail and Farewell! Ave (1911). He wrote about her father in “Our Michaelmas Goose” and “Our Academicians and Their Associates.”
George may have consulted Alice as a subject-matter expert on music in general and Wagner in particular, when he wrote Evelyn Innes (1898).
