Aet. 43, to a French man of letters. George Moore’s poem, purportedly inspired 25 years earlier by an (unknown) Leighton painting named The Summer Moon, could be a recollection of Cymon and Iphigenia (1884).

George’s article “Lord Leighton” appeared in Cosmopolis (1 March 1896). A holographic, slightly revised version of his poem, inscribed in 1902 to Cissy Loftus in Dublin, is in the Boston University Library.
