George Moore’s “young lady” Maud Alice Burke married Bache Cunard on 17 April 1895. Her daughter Nancy was conceived in mid-June 1895, at a time when she and George were having sexual relations. Nancy was born on 10 March 1896.
Herbert Asquith was more than ten years from leading the Liberal Party back to power.
