Menu of Letters 1895

Aet. 43, to a man of letters. “Mildred Lawson” and “John Norton” were the first two stories in Celibates (1895). George Moore’s next book was to be Evelyn Innes (1898), the first half of a duology.

John Oliver Hobbes (pseudonym of Pearl Craigie) published two novels in 1895: The Gods, Some Mortals, and Lord Wickenham and Some Good Intentions and a Blunder. I have not found their months of publication or located Edmund Gosse’s review of either book.
