The revised Tannhäuser, interpreted by the character Evelyn Innes in the 15th chapter of her eponymous novel, was revived at the Opéra de Paris (13 May 1895) and again at Covent Garden in July 1895. George Moore reviewed the opera in the Speaker (20 July 1895).
