Aet, 42, to a woman of letters. Lena Milman’s translation of Ivan Turgenev’s Faust would appear in Frank Harris’s Fortnightly Review (1 July 1894); her translation of his lecture Hamlet and Don Quixote followed in the next issue.

Beginning 17 May 1894 the Grafton Gallery held an exhibition of portraits of women selected from private collections by a committee of female aristocrats. On Wednesday, 6 June, numerous titled, influential and artistic people gathered there for a reception given by the Duchess of Rutland.

Mrs. Alexander may be Florence Jane Théleur, the prominent wife of actor George Alexander.
