Aet. 42, to a woman of letters. The letters of Abelard and Heloise were available to George Moore in Octave Greard’s French translation (1875), from the Latin of Victor Cousin (1849).
The first English translation of the letters, by C.K. Scott Moncrieff in 1925, was dedicated to George Moore, who in 1921 published his novel Héloïse and Abélard.
