Aet. 41, to his brother. George Moore’s uncle, Llewellyn Blake, was one of his brother Joseph’s beneficiaries pressing George for payment of an old debt. George’s grandfather’s manuscript history of the French revolution was later donated to the National Library of Ireland. Esther Waters was being prepared for publication in March 1894. The “second edition” of Modern Painting was actually a reissue of the first; the true second edition appeared in 1897.
