Aet. 41, to a Scottish drama critic who reviewed The Tempter, by Henry Arthur Jones, in the World (27 September and 4 October 1893). He had reviewed George Moore’s play The Strike at Arlingford in the World (1 March 1893), but not the revised version published in June. La Débâcle in this letter probably refers to an adaptation for the stage.
