Aet. 41, to his brother. The letter (dated September 1893) from Dominick Browne, Christchurch, New Zealand, and is now bound with George Moore’s letters at the National Library of Ireland. Browne’s correspondence continued with Maurice Moore, who was assisted in his geneological research by Martin Blake of Ballinafad. (NLI Ms.10566-1).
Arthur Augustus Moore (1817-45), the elder of George Henry Moore’s two younger brothers, was a boy of precociously brilliant intellect and unbridled spirit. After two years at Trinity College, Cambridge, during which he was recognised as a very promising mathematician, he surrendered himself to sport and fun. In March 1845 while riding steeplechase at Liverpool, he was killed by the fall of his horse.
