Aet. 41, to a man of letters. Edmund Gosse’s collection of essays was entitled Questions at Issue (1893). In “The Tyranny of the Novel” he compared George Moore and George Gissing.

In “My Impressions of Zola” (English Illustrated Magazine, February 1894) and “Exteriority” (Speaker, 22 June 1895) George Moore expanded his views of realism in literature and art expressed in this letter.
