Aet. 40, to a woman of letters and host of a notable salon. George Moore’s play The Strike at Arlingford was about to be performed at the Opera Comique (21 February 1893). He reviewed the exhibition of old masters at the Royal Academy in the Speaker (21 January 1893); and the exhibition of the Glasgow School at Grafton’s Gallery in the Speaker (25 February and 4 March 1893). One of the artists exhibited at the Grafton was his old friend Lewis Welden Hawkins.
