Aet. 40, to a man of letters and art critic (1856–1940) whose brother was the artist George Leonard Little (1862–1941). In the 1890s James lived in Bucks Green, Sussex, about twenty miles from Shoreham where George Moore lived in the 1880s. As an art critic, George attacked the Royal Academy of Arts in “The Royal Academy” (Speaker, 23 April 1892), “An Average Academy” (Speaker, 30 April 1892), “The Royal Academy” (Fortnightly Review, 1 June 1892), “The Organization of Art” (Speaker, 4 June 1892) and “Rival Cities” (Speaker, 15 October 1892). These essays are published on GMi. Little’s review of Vain Fortune appeared in the Library Review (June 1892).
