Menu of Letters 1892

Aet. 40, to a journalist and literary critic. George Moore’s story of a flood was “In Sight of Death,” first published in Shorter’s London Illustrated News (unseen), then in the Illustrated News of the World (New York, 27 August 1892). It was inspired by Émile Zola’s story “L’Inondation“(1880).
