Aet. 39, to George Earle Buckle, editor of The Times. Mrs. Theodore Wright (died 1922) was an outstanding political activist as well as actress. William Lepper Pilgrim known as William L. Abingdon (1859-1918) and Hermann Nenmark known as Hermann de Lange (1851-1929) were established actors. In Chapter 3 of A Communication to My Friends (1933), George Moore credited Lange, whom he met in the early 1880s, for the choice of Hanley as a principal location in A Mummer’s Wife (1885); Lange was later the model for opera manager Hermann Goetze in George’s Evelyn Innes (1901). The Wild Duck would be produced by the Independent Theatre Society at the Royalty Theatre (4-5 May 1894). The Power of Darkness was not produced in England until 1904.
