Leo Tolstoy’s sexual drama Dominion of Darkness was published in English by Henry Vizetelly soon after performance in Paris by André Antoine’s Théâtre Libre (February 1888). It was first performed in England by the Stage Society (Royalty Theatre, 18 December 1904).
