Belford’s Magazine was edited by Donn Piatt and published by Belford, Clarke. The October 1889 issue featured Clara Lanza’s story “How the Major Cured Them” and George’s Pagan Poem, “To a Consumptive Girl,” which was about to reappear in Mike Fletcher.
