Aet. 37, to an American novelist. In this letter, George Moore referred to  Alexander Belford and James Clarke as though they were one person, rather than a partnership. Belford, Clarke was reorganized by the bankruptcy court; the partners split but neither afterwards published George Moore. Edward Heron-Allen and Edgar Saltus were published by Belford, Clarke at the time of its collapse. Minerva in New York published Clara Lanza’s Basil Morton’s Transgression (1890) and George Moore’s Mike Fletcher (1889).
