James Runciman was a frequent contributor to Augustus Moore’s Hawk and other papers. Runciman provided topical information for George’s “book on servants,” the novel Esther Waters (1894), as did Walter Sickert’s cook at 54 Broadhurst Gardens, Hampstead.
