←Menu of Letters 1889

Aet. 37, to a journalist who frequently contributed to the Pall Mall Gazette and also wrote fiction. Hopkins quoted George Moore’s letter in “Anonymity” in the New Review (November 1889, March 1890). James Runciman was a frequent contributor to Augustus Moore’s Hawk and other papers. Runciman provided topical information for George’s “book on servants,” the novel Esther Waters (1894), as did Walter Sickert’s cook at 54 Broadhurst Gardens, Hampstead.
