George Moore reviewed Beerbohm Tree’s production of Robert Buchanon‘s A Man’s Shadow in “Our Dramatists and Their Literature” (Fortnightly Review, 1 November 1889). Later, the character Montague Ford in George’s novel Vain Fortune (1891) was based on Tree. Frank Harris, editor of the Fortnightly Review, lived in Tonbridge Wells at this time.
