Aet. 37, to an American novelist. George Moore and Clara Lanza worked on a dramatization of her novel A Righteous Apostate (1883). Her new novel was Basil Morton’s Transgression (1890). The New York Tribune (29 December 1889) reviewed George’s Mike Fletcher with Edgar Saltus’ A Transient Guest as “Two Disagreeable Books.” In 1891, Saltus published his historical novel on the life of Christ, a subject that George took up a few years hence.
