Aet. 36, to Normal MacColl, editor of the Athenaeum. In the issue of 18 December 1888, George Haven Putnam, Secretary of the American Publishers Copyright League, replied to George Moore’s complaint about copyright infringement of British authors by American publishers. Putnam also replied to the letter below in the Athenaeum (9 February 1889). The letter that “lies on my table” was shared with Clara Lanza but evidently not published.
